My daughter was competing in a netball tournament, so great to make use of the leisure facilities and have a restful night's sleep in a comfortable room before competing/supporting all day. Evening meal and breakfast was lovely. All staff helpful and friendly. Only complaint is that parking and breakfast was extra.

Well located, nice food a little bit more fruit for breakfast would be nice. Price very high but understand they go up everywhere when there's something on at the stadium. Very clean and loved the pool. Thank you

Hotel approximately a 20 min walk from Cardiff central station which was fine. Busy road outside but once inside it was barely noticeable. Welcoming, pleasant staff on reception (afternoon of 04/05/24) and one in particular sorted out an issue with my booking regarding breakfast - I’m sorry I’ve lost the bit of paper I had with her name on but she had excellent customer care skills, thank you. In fact all staff (apart from one, a somewhat miserable man on the bar on evening of 5th may), were very pleasant, professional and friendly. A few negatives though - the air conditioning in the room (111) wasn’t working, however reception quickly organised a fan for us which was appreciated. The bathroom is in dire need of an upgrade - cover missing off cold tap and there was a constant drip, and the shower tray was very “grotty” with quite a high step into the shower which might cause a bit of discomfort to anyone with mobility issues. Also towel rail not working but there was note explaining why. As in most hotels the hairdryer is attached to something (to prevent theft I’m guessing) however, there is no mirror anywhere near it! I had to use my reflection in the tv to attempt my blow drying - perhaps the hotel could run to an inexpensive stick on mirror on the wall next to the tv? Not the hotels fault I know - but there was a dog in a room just down from ours that was barking throughout the night when it heard a door bang or any other noise that it would not have been used to. Very annoying. Back to the positives though - excellent breakfast both mornings. Plenty of choice and nicely presented. Again, very nice staff on duty. Would we stay here again - yes (would ask for a different room though).

Holzfrog Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

We stayed here for 2 nights when we came to see Bruce Springsteen. The hotel is really nice - can’t fault it other than having to pay for parking. Great location with an easy walk into town, to the station and to the Principality. Staff on reception were lovely and welcoming and the room was clean and well equipped with good service. The restaurant food was not very nice but I’ll leave a separate review for that as the hotel itself is fab. I probably would’ve given it 5* had we not been charged over £450 a night for a pretty standard room. I’d never expect to spend that in my life anywhere let alone a Novotel! The Ritz is cheaper!

We booked this trip as part of my husbands 60th celebrations, as we were attending the Bruce Springsteen concert nearby. From the check in process, Megan was absolutely fabulous! After mentioning it was my husbands birthday she upgraded our room, arranged a birthday cake & a complimentary drink. The room was very spacious with a large screen TV, & gorgeous bathroom. The city centre was approximately a 10 minute walk away, which was brilliant. There is a bar/restaurant just off the reception area. The staff in the bar area were also lovely, namely Anthony. The breakfast staff again were all very helpful. The breakfast offered was superb, from cereals, cold meats, full hot breakfast to make your own pancakes! A truly fantastic stay, & a definite to return!
