Disappointing the hotel turning from 5 star to 2 star hotel.

First of all positive : JP the chief chef has been excellent and some other chef assisting him. The lounge excess was good with good broad smile. Good location However we have stayed since 24th of March until 3rd April and then from 10th April until 14th April. The room service is like 1 star not 5 star. It's very disappointing to see such service despite reminding room keeping staff . Toiletries missing . No towels no toilet roll cleanliness was poor. Updating coffee tea making packs etc. The building needs to be refurbished. With rust showing in various places. We have stayed at Novotel for last 7 years but have seen at each visit deteriation of standards and service. How do I recommend to others from UK to come here. There are lots of trainee staff and not effectively trained. . The saving grace is JP and his team of chefs. Who were excellent.

A disappointing stay

We stayed here in Mumbai during a three week trip to India and this was the most expensive stay and the most disappointing. Expensive at $300 NZ per night and the food was expensive too. Our room did have an ocean view but also a half opened bag of cement and wood outside the window. The hotel was old but clean and we found most staff good. On arrival we waited 30mins in a queue before we could check in, two lines but 5 staff behind the counter. Will not be back. Total renovation needed and some guest relations training needed.

Far from 5 stars standards

The hotel is located by the beach, with direct access from the swimming pool. The room was just ok, the carpet looked used and with some stains. The bed was comfy although the pillows were not firm enough. The other equipment - sofa, table and chair - was not super comfortable or really appropriate for work. The bathroom was ok and clean, but the shower had a funny smell (the water, actually). The breakfast has a good variety although the quality was not super. The staff was nice. The swimming pool is ok, although the pool is full of birds sometimes. There is a bar and a restaurant around but it's not possible to order a drink in the pool. The fitness room is basic but fine. All in all the problem is the rating, as it is clearly far from 5 stars standards. I've stayed in other 5 stars in Juhu and in India and it's another league. Juhu Beach is a bit particular, it is not far from Mumbai airport but far from the main attractions of the city. The beach condition has improved but still you're not going to swim there or relax on your towell, cleanliness is not great. It is however very animated.

Checkin was very slow had to wait more than 15 min , ordered a hot coffee at room service which was not at all hot , the hotel did not allow the driver to stay in the car in hotel parking and asked him to park outside which was completely wrong as I am the one always travelling with the driver and most 5 star hotels have a facility for drivers and this time it was completely disstatisfactory overall would not prefer to book this property in the future
