Where: The Royal Observatory is quite literally the centre of the world. East meets west at the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), giving you a chance for a beautiful photo with your family standing astride the famous Prime Meridian line. In a practical sense, the observatory is in Greenwich Park in south-east London.
Suitable for: This is a great place to visit for the whole family, including younger kids who can stargaze in the planetarium and older ones who might be interested in learning more about the history of space, time and navigation, as well as astrology.
Ticket price: Adults are £16 and children £8. If you are curious and want to see more, you can get the Royal Museums Greenwich Day Pass including Cutty Sark for £24.80 for adults and £12.40 for children.
Opening times: Open daily from 10am to 5pm, including bank holidays.
