Places to visit in Fujairah

Fujairah is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates and a popular attraction for locals and visitors who need to get out of the bustling city. Located on the north-east coast of the country, Fujairah is the only emirate that is almost entirely mountainous. Because of this, residents of the emirate enjoy a slightly cooler climate and more rainfall than the rest of the country. Some of our favourite places to visit in Fujairah include :

Masafi
Lending its name to a popular bottled water company that original there, Masafi has plenty to offer. The village is known for its natural springs and visitors can explore the wadis as well as the street markets to purchase local artefacts and souvenirs.
Heritage Village
A must-see for first time visitors to the region, the heritage village takes you back to the culture and history of the region. Step back in time and explore traditional Arabian houses, fishing boats and irrigation tools.
Fujairah Museum
A popular tourist and educational attraction in the country, the Fujairah museum is home to numerous archaeological exhibits. The museum is frequented by tourists and school children and is open every day. A popular and unique attraction at the museum is an ostrich egg that is believed to be from 2500 BC.
Bull Butting
An unusual yet common sport in the region, bull butting was brought to Fujairah by the Portuguese in the 16th and 17th century. Every Friday, crowds gather around to watch and cheer as bulls lock horns and try to push each other out of the ring.
Beaches
Being the only emirate to not have its coastline on the Arabian Gulf, Fujairah draws a good amount of crowds to its clear beaches. Some popular water sports include scuba diving, snorkelling and jet skiing.
